Rain, (born Jung Ji-Hoon), is primarily known for his singing and dancing talents, but he has also expanded into the world of acting. He first debuted May 13, 2002 under JYP Entertainment.
As an R&B singer, he is perhaps one of the best known stars worldwide, having performed in several Asian countries as well as the United States. His music and dancing talent have been compared to superstars such as Usher and Justin Timberlake. However, his rise to stardom can arguably be mainly attributed to his role in the 2004 Korean drama series, Full House, in which he starred opposite of Song Hye Kyo. The series became immensely popular, and ended up as one of the highest rated and most popular Korean dramas worldwide. Although Rain had some smaller roles before Full House, they weren't very highly regarded and the dramas were not as successful. Rain's role as Lee Young-Jae in Full House won him the Best Actor Award at the KBS Acting Awards.
Rain's passion for dancing and singing came in the 6th grade. He was in an amateur boyband named "Fanclub" and after the group disbanded, a JYP entertainment executive named Park Jin Young signed Rain to JYP entertainment. Rain became a backup dancer for singer. Park Ji Yoon. He spent many years training in singing and dancing until he debuted in 2002 with the single Bad Guy. After the success of his music, he released several albums including (in chronological order) "Ways To Avoid The Sun," "It's Raining," and "Eternal Rain."
